Seventh call for Short Term Scientific Missions (STSM)

We are delighted to announce the opening of the 7th call for Short Term Scientific Missions (STSM) of the COST Action EuroXanth: Integrating science on Xanthomonadaceae for integrated plant disease management in Europe. ATTENTION: This call comes in a new format compared to previous calls. A more “classic” call will be announced in the following weeks.

Researchers are this time invited to submit short project proposals, which include the hosting of a visiting scientist who would come with a STSM fellowship. Proposers are requested to have sufficient resources for the projects and should not ask for funding of lab costs or bench fees. However, the EuroXanth COST Action will provide, once positively evaluated, STSM grants to visiting scientists, which cover expenses related to travel, accommodation and meals, following the general guidelines for STSM grants.

Project proposals will first be screened by the STSM Committee with respect to their link to the goals and objectives of the EuroXanth COST Action. Depending on the number of proposals, the STSM Committee may perform a selection among the proposals based on the general evaluation criteria. Afterwards, project proposals will be announced at the EuroXanth website and a call will invite interested researchers to apply for a STSM fellowship. Upon evaluation by the STSM Commitee, successful candidates will obtain a STSM fellowship in order to perform the work as described in the proposal in the host laboratory.

We hope that this initiative will generate truly new collaborative links between participating COST countries. To propose a project, please send the following documents before March 17, 2020, to the STSM Coordinator (Dr Monika Kałużna, monika.kaluzna@inhort.pl) and to the Chair (Dr Ralf Koebnik, ralf.koebnik@ird.fr):
  • Letter of motivation explaining the link to the EuroXanth COST Action;
  • Project proposal, incl. background and specific scientific problem, planned activities during the STSM and expected results (max. 3 pages);
  • Planned period of time and cost estimate for subsistence of the STSM grantee.
We are now receiving proposals for projects between June 1, 2020, and January 31, 2021.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

With kind regards,
Monika Kałużna (STSM Coordinator)
Ralf Koebnik (Chair)
