Workshop 2020 #5 (Zoom)
The EuroXanth COST Action held its 7th Workshop online via Zoom on December 17, 2020. COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is a funding organisation for research and innovation networks. Their Actions help connect research initiatives across Europe and beyond and enable researchers and innovators to grow their ideas in any science and technology field by sharing them with their peers. COST Actions are bottom-up networks with a duration of four years that boost research, innovation and careers.
The workshop welcomed 22 participants from 18 countries (see below) who further presented and discussed ideas for an upcoming COST Innovators Grant (CIG) proposal. Three topics received the most attention: (i) microbiota, their analysis and their manipulation to the benefit of the plant; (ii) molecular diagnostics, including pathogen/locus-specific solutions (e.g. LAMP) and multi-target approaches; (iii) seed-borne xanthomonads, their ecology and management. After all, a proposal on molecular diagnostics, which would be in continuation of the largest EuroXanth working group, WG1, received the strongest support from the participants.
